Watch this space!
I recently spent a week in the beautiful Dordogne region of France. Among the driving, relaxing and cheese eating I managed to get some riding in. There was a also a small bike dropping incident.
Here’s a little look.
Some interesting bits and pieces this week. Pouring over the Icebike coverage, i saw the Ridley X-Nights. They look great, and phenomenal value for 2016. Essentially the little brother of the X-Night, the X-fire (with its slightly odd, do it all geometry) is no more. There are now two models of X-Night in instead. The […]
In an attempt to force myself into creating content for this some what stagnant blog, I thought I’d start a weekly feature that’s easy enough for me to do any time any where. Here it is, the Sunday mood board. Picture of cycling things that gave caught my interest over the preceding seven days.
I know it has nothing to do with cycling. But I don’t care. Listen to Raleigh Ritchie. Weird combination of Game of Thrones and R&B, what’s not to like? In other news YES YES YES Contador! That’s what i want to see, attacking! I was screaming at the TV! I watched the best GC rider […]
I thought i’d reintroduce myself to the internet with a cheap repost of a video. Peter Sagan and Marco Fontana, riding round the woods, making me want to buy a Cannondale.
I finally allowed myself to buy some of these. I cannot wait to take them out on a test ride!! Photo’s do not do the orange justice.
The way he handled his bike, his attacking, the bloodshot eyes and his simple refusal to back down turned Tom Meeusen into one of my favorite riders this season. He took wins in the biggest races and beat the best riders in the world with his frantic, elbows out sprint. Meeusen’s 2014-15 season has to […]
A collection of quality reduced images that sort of tell the story of my winter. A ‘photo essay’ is the phrase I believe…
Forget about the Brilliant Svenness videos! This is the only analysis you need of the World cross championships. Now you see why the low countries rule the cross world. The kids are filled with passion for the sport from the moment they can be propped in front of the TV to watch it.
This blog seems to be becoming ‘a handy guide to cycling art that you might like to buy…’ That’s because I am in the process of doing up the house with my partner. Whenever I get a break from repeatedly answering the question ‘what do you think of this wallpaper?’, I look for bike themed […]
Someone asked me to write about Britain’s UK cross . Unfortunately I don’t know enough about the women’s scene to give fair comment. So read this instead!
Forget RBP2 (well don’t forget it, it’s awesome!). This really is the video of the year. I want to go to Scotland…NOW!
Ben Berden taking a sprint from his Raleigh team mate. It’s just a great image. It screams speed! You can see more of Phil Beckmans photos here
I seriously cannot take my eyes away from it. The kit he’s wearing is amazing…and are those Giro Empires? It takes over from ‘Joey’s ok’ as my favorite cross Gif.
Somebody must have pointed them in the direction of my Etsy christmas guide because the guys from the Gumo store got in touch (Via the comments box… please feel free to do the same! I’m lonely!) to say they had a new custom print available just in time for Christmas. Here it is. It’s very […]
Through the wonderful world of pinterest I stumbled across this poster for the 2014 world cyclocross championships at Hoogerheide in the Netherlands. The artist is Michael Valenti. I liked the style so thought id share it. There are plenty of posters in this style available at Pedal Anything Here’s some more.
After its Yorkshire Grande Depart, the 2014 Tour de France route will take the riders over the cobbled roads of Northern France. The riders and gaudy publicity caravan will skirt 100yr old battlefields and the geometric graves of the world wars. The race is a commemoration of the first world war, 100 years since it […]
It’s a known fact that if you have an interest in anything, then you will receive a plethora of gifts at Christmas that somehow reflect that interest. Usually for cyclists it’s a Parktool pizza cutter, maybe the odd multi-tool. I thought id look at some of the more interesting gifts you can buy from the craft […]
Browsing the awesome shopping resource ETSY I just stumbled across this T – Shirt. I am buying myself an early Christmas present right now!!!!!! Here’s the link.
Howdi. I’ll keep this short as I’ve got a few races to cover. Whole races! Races that I actually managed to finish. Wessex league, Newbury Showground. Cracking course designed by Cotswold Veldrijden and some great scrapping action. I was off the pace though, ended up 14th. Central League, Zappi’s Cross Race. Culham. Probably the best cross […]
So this is it. The secret to a killer Cross start. You scratch a line in the sand at the bottom of a loose, steep climb and you sprint off the line to the the top of that hill. I know what I’l be doing next week. My starts are easily the weakest part of […]
Cross season is well underway now and the racing on the continent is coming thick and fast! We’ve seen some great fights and even a win a win for Tom Meussen! Here’s a look at the current UCI standings for the Elite Senior Men. Unsurprisingly, right at the top of the table sits the king […]
Another video in the Global Cycling Networks Cyclocross series; this time a guide to remounting. There is some great slow motion footage from the pros as well as some handy tips to master this incredibly irritating skill! Connoisseurs of cross will enjoy the different styles of remounts shown by individual riders, especially the Dutch guys. […]
Ive been very good this year. I ate all my broccoli, was nice to old people, didnt commit any major crimes… So please. Pretty fucking please. Can you bring me this cinelli kit for Christmas/Hanukkah/Diwali. I will provide the matching socks!
According to the always truthful realm of Twitter…. This is a Shimano mechanic building Sven Nys’s bike for this weekends racing. That’s it, the end of canti brakes is coming. A source that i glimpsed last week and have now forgotten, said Sven has wanted discs for a while but was told they weren’t available. He […]
Just look at it! I’ll add some light blue laces. To complete the Bristol CX custom look!
So, when i left you last I was tending my bruises after an ignominious start to XC racing in Oxfordshire. Since then, I’ve not raced the mountain bike again. Although I couldn’t help fiddling with the bike and have given the cockpit a bit of a stretch. It’s gone from a set 580mm old school […]
I’ve been busy racing recently. With very limited success. But i am racing! Here’s proof. Cross season started badly. Bike troubles took me out of Wessex league round 1 at Gloucester. I was well off the pace anyway but the legs felt ok so I wasnt happy! I was so not happy and so utterly […]
Some lovely new rubber from Challenge. The Chicane. A dry conditions tubular with a file tread middle and the aggressive side tread from the Limus mud tyres on the edges. What’s not to like? This has to be the ideal tyre choice for dry summer cross races. Especially for those who can’t afford the FMB […]
The Gauge is a racers shoe. Light, tough and stiff with a fit and feel that would impress any Cross Country or Cyclocross rider. I liked Giro’s second tier dirt shoe the moment I lifted it from the box as it doesn’t have that chunky agricultural look of some MTB shoes. It’s compact […]
For the past month or so I have been working on something really very big! It’s fitting then that I tell you all about it in my 150th post. Somehow I have found 150 things to say over the last two years! A few people have even read those things! Thanks for doing that! So […]
I took the MTB for what was supposed to be some ultralight touring this weekend. The plan was to start in Swindon, ride down to the stone circle at Avebury then as far along the Ridgeway as I could be bothered, before spending the night at my folks house near Wallingford. All I had with […]
